“Christianity is a long obedience in the same direction.” (E. Peterson)
Faithfulness, loyalty, steadfastness, perseverance and commitment are required to create true disciples. Today, however, we are finding a new phenomenon, Christians who tend to live a kind of part-time, some-of-the-time commitment. We are told that the average Christian only attends church services once or twice a month. Sports, vacation, busyness, weariness, life, picnics, getaways… attending worship with God’s people is not much of a priority.
(I can remember when we used to call that backsliding, now it’s just called modern Christianity.)
If we are going to see revival in this generation, that will have to change. Let’s get to church this week, and next week, and the week after that, and the week after that. Not out of rigid religiosity or legalism, but out of a heart of worship and commitment, knowing that I need church and the church needs me.❤️
And furthermore, how can I say I love Christ the Head of the church and not love His Body?
